Juan Pablo Alperin is an Assistant Professor at the School of Publishing at Simon Fraser University, the Associate Director of Research for the Public Knowledge Project, and the co-director of the Scholarly Communications Lab. He is a multi-disciplinary scholar, with training in computer science (BMath, University of Waterloo), social science (MA Geography, University of Waterloo), and education (PhD, Stanford University), who believes that research, especially when it is made freely available, has the potential to make meaningful and direct contributions to society. Dr. Alperin has contributed a combination of conceptual, methodological, and empirical peer-reviewed articles and presentations in leading journals and conferences, as well as edited two volumes on scholarly communication topics.
